Let's talk about you...

Whether it be stand-alone coaching to assist with issues arising in the workplace or coaching embedded in our communication training packages to support and supplement learning outcomes, Discern can help you with your coaching needs.

What is coaching really?

Great question! We're glad you asked! ;-)    Coaching is a greatly misunderstood term.

In our definition - and the one that's widely academically accepted - coaching means using skilled questioning and listening techniques to allow the participant to access their own wisdom and personal resources so that they can get the outcome they want.

At times coaching can involve an element of 1:1 training or mentoring, but coaching is often at its most powerful in the above form.

Should I use DISCERN for my coaching needs?

Another great question! You're really quite incisive aren't you?

The first thing to consider here is if you like our definition.  If you do, and you or a member of your team would like to engage with a qualified coach so that you can work on clarifying your own intentions and professional goals and receive support as you take steps to pursue them, then Tamara is an excellent choice.

Since formalising her skills with a Graduate Diploma in Coaching from Curtin University in 2009, Tamara has been successfully coaching individuals in both their personal and professional lives for several years.  She's worked with people from a broad range of backgrounds and areas of industry.

Here are a few testimonials from people she's worked with:

Tamara is both an outcome focussed and empathetic coach, talented at assisting my management team to define what are the actual issues facing them and how they can succeed in their roles.

We have been fortunate to have her on board over the past 18 months through a time of intense change within our organisation and I would highly recommend her...

Steve Targett, CEO - Unicredit

Tamara gets my highest recommendation as a coach and mentor. Her unique ability to recognise, understand, and explain business relationships has developed my thinking, and most importantly, my actions.

Tamara’s mentoring continues to make me a better person every day and become a much better manager and leader in my organisation. I wanted to take a moment to personally thank her for all the hard work she has put in with our unit.

Meagan Shorten, Manager - LIWA

Tamara has been coaching me for well over a year now, and during that time she has been of enormous help in me getting my new business off the ground and running successfully.

With her assistance, I have been able to get clarity on the objectives I need to achieve, and focus on achieving them in the most effective ways I can find. I found personally that using fortnightly coaching meetings allowed me to keep my focus on my objectives, and the actions rolling along.

After just a few months I was surprised by the amount I had achieved, which would have been a struggle on my own.

Tamara's manner is always supportive and friendly, and she is very easy to work with, however, she has the ability to ask the right questions at the right time which cut to the chase and make it difficult to procrastinate or make excuses.

I will definitely continue to use her services into the future and would recommend her to anyone who needs to get clear on their objectives, and get moving towards meeting them effectively.
